OLD LONDON AFFICIONADOS
They did the hop, they did the mash, they did the jive. And now you can do it too. Tea dances were historically popular in the early 20th century in Britain and France. The usually took place in late afternoon or early evening (the time when afternoon tea was traditionally served) and oftentimes were accompanied by live music.
Today, there are several tea venues to choose from in London, where young and old alike get together to get down. Go to the Finsbury Town Hall and see what it's all about. Or, drop by Viva Cake at the George Tavern in Shoreditch to get the entire experience from head to toe for only a fiver (£5). The Waldorf and the Royal Opera house each have stunning nights held at their venues, so go along -- but first, you'll need to find a lovely frock, a string of pearls and brush up on your charleston, waltz and tango steps.
Why not go for it? You only live once darling, let's dance!
