NATUREHEADS AND MODERN HIPPIES
Hippies have boogied into the 21st century, and this time they have a new agenda. Today's natureheads are literally trying to make the world a better place, by planting the seeds of change... all around London.
Guerilla gardeners are fighting back against the neglect of public spaces and the lack of community spirit plaguing modern social life. These young, radical horticulturists commandeer abandoned letter boxes, tree holes, and abandoned, run down public land that needs color, growth and natural beauty.
The aim of the projects (which also have outfits in New York, Berlin and Melbourne) is to bring locals who live together more joy and conscientiousness. These guys are literally coming together to make their neighborhoods a better place to live. Not to mention, they get to bond with other kids who think and feel the same way. "Peace and love" has a new tagline -- "Fight filth with flowers."
